Radisson Hotel Group unveils first Verified Net Zero hotels
Hospitality giant expands renewable energy and responsible sourcing initiatives
DUBAI – Radisson Hotel Group has outlined major progress in its sustainability strategy, including the launch of its first Verified Net Zero hotels, as the hospitality company pushes towards its target of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Detailed in the Group’s 2025 Responsible Business Report, the company said sustainability remains central to its long-term business strategy amid growing climate risks, evolving guest expectations and tightening regulatory requirements across the global hospitality sector. The report highlights how the company is embedding environmental and social priorities across hotel operations, workforce development and community initiatives.
The Brussels-based hospitality group said its latest sustainability efforts are being implemented through a structured five-year roadmap focused on energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy adoption and responsible resource management. The report also marks the Group’s first alignment with the European Union’s Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs framework, using a double materiality approach to assess environmental, social and governance impacts.
Net Zero hotels
One of the biggest milestones highlighted in the report is the launch of the Group’s first Verified Net Zero hotels in Manchester City Centre and Oslo City Centre. The projects are designed to serve as scalable models for reducing emissions across both existing and newly developed hotel properties.
According to the Group, the hotels demonstrate how significantly lower carbon emissions across scopes 1, 2 and 3 can be achieved while maintaining operational efficiency and guest experience standards. The programme forms part of the company’s broader transition towards low-carbon hospitality operations.
The report states that Radisson Hotel Group achieved a 23 percent reduction in emissions intensity per square metre compared with its 2019 baseline. Total Scope 1 and 2 emissions were reduced by 6 percent despite the Group’s hotel portfolio expanding by 20 per cent during the same period.
The company also reported that 78 hotels are now operating on 100 percent renewable electricity, with plans to continue expanding renewable energy sourcing across its global network.
People first
Radisson Hotel Group said its workforce strategy remains a major pillar of its sustainability agenda, with more than 75,000 team members employed across over 100 countries.
The Group reported an 84 percent team member engagement score, outperforming the industry average by 18 percent. Women currently hold 31 percent of leadership positions within the organisation, while 206 hotels have received Safehotels certification aimed at strengthening safety and security standards for guests and staff.
The report also highlighted the role of the Radisson Academy, which delivered more than 8.5 million learning hours globally. Around 40 percent of job vacancies were filled internally, reflecting the company’s focus on career development and internal progression.
Meanwhile, the Radisson People Foundation, launched in 2024 to support employees during times of need, assisted more than 250 team members worldwide.
Think Community
The hospitality group also detailed its global community and responsible sourcing initiatives under its Think Community strategy.
Its partnership with Just a Drop helped provide access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene services to more than 34,000 people. Across its operations, hotel and corporate teams contributed approximately 79,000 volunteer hours during the reporting period.
The company said it delivered €890,000 in cash and in-kind donations globally as part of its wider social impact initiatives. Radisson Hotel Group also received an EcoVadis Silver Medal, with 76 per cent of its global suppliers assessed under responsible sourcing standards.
The report said these programmes are designed to strengthen ethical business practices while creating shared value for communities connected to the Group’s operations and supply chains.
